AmaZulu FC will be determined to bounce back to winning ways when they host Marumo Gallants in the Betway Premiership match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday.

Kick-off is at 7:30 pm CAT.

Usuthu extended their unbeaten run to three matches across all competitions when they drew 2-2 with Kaizer Chiefs away on Tuesday and they will now face a Gallants side that beat them 1-0 in the first-round league clash in September.

AmaZulu find themselves placed ninth in the Betway Premiership standings – just two points behind fifth-placed Chiefs and a victory over Gallants would elevate Usuthu into the top eight if other results go their way this weekend.

“We’re a work in progress, we’re getting there steady but surely, I’m proud of the guys, I commend the effort today, they gave their all,” AmaZulu co-head coach Arthur Zwane said.

“A point playing away from home playing against a wounded Kaizer Chiefs is better than nothing.”

Meanwhile, Gallants saw their four-match unbeaten run across all competitions come to an end when they suffered a 2-1 loss to a courageous 10-man Richards Bay side away on Tuesday.

Siwelele Sa Marumo are occupying the 13th spot in the Betway Premiership standings – seven points above the relegation zone and a victory over AmaZulu would see Gallants move further away from the bottom two spots.

“We need to motivate twice as much as we are supposed to. We have to find solutions and we have to find ways of coming back,” Gallants head coach Dan Malesela said.

“We need to get points. We can’t come here and lose six points. Now we are in a position where one is not good enough. The motivation factor is we need to get the three points and redeem our image.”

AmaZulu have no suspension concerns coming into this encounter, but Marumo Gallants will be without two players who are suspended.

Siyabulela Shai will be absent as he completes his two-match suspension, while Edson Khumalo will also be missing after collecting his fourth yellow card of the season against Richards Bay.
