AMAZULU FC STATEMENT ON PASSING OF SIPHIWE MKHONZA

SIPHIWE MKHONZA.

It’s with great sadness that AmaZulu FC extends its deepest condolences to the family of
former player, Sphiwe Mkhonza, who passed away at the age of 44 after battling illness.
Known affectionately as “Skizo,” Mkhonza was a beloved figure in South African football
circles.

During his time with AmaZulu FC from 2009 to 2011, Mkhonza made a significant impact on
the team which includes finishing runners up in the 2009/10 Nedbank Cup. Prior to his
tenure with Usuthu, he also represented local rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows and
Maritzburg United, leaving a lasting impression on each club.

His passing is a loss not only to the football community but also to those who knew him
personally. AmaZulu FC joins in mourning the loss of a cherished individual in SA football.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at the SABC during this difficult
time. Skizo’s legacy will continue to inspire and his memory will forever be cherished within
the football fraternity.
