AmaZulu FC Pioneers Advanced Scouting Course in Durban

AmaZulu FC, in partnership with the International Professional Scouting Organisation (IPSO), made history by hosting South Africa’s first-ever Level 3 Scouting Course.

The two-day event, held on 22-23 March at the Prime High-Performance Centre at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, brought together 50 delegates eager to sharpen their scouting expertise.

Participants had the opportunity to learn from top IPSO educators and industry experts, with AmaZulu’s first-team assistant coach, Siboniso Vilakazi, lending his support to the initiative. The course was designed to equip local scouts and coaches with cutting-edge scouting techniques, reinforcing AmaZulu FC’s commitment to youth development and strengthening football’s grassroots ecosystem.

The event also drew scouts from Lesotho, Eswatini, and representatives from SAFA eThekwini, underscoring AmaZulu FC’s efforts to elevate football scouting across the region.

AmaZulu High-Performance Manager, Joshua Smith, emphasized the significance of the initiative:

“IPSO is a globally respected organization that provides education to top-tier clubs and having them here is a tremendous step forward. This course aligns with our broader mission to raise the standard of football and football education in South Africa.”

Smith further highlighted AmaZulu’s vision beyond on-field performance:

“We don’t just want to succeed on the pitch—we want to empower individuals across the football spectrum, from coaches to analysts and conditioning professionals. Last year, we hosted our first high-performance symposium, and this collaboration with IPSO further cements our dedication to holistic football development.”

Through initiatives like this, AmaZulu FC continues to set the benchmark for football education and scouting excellence in South Africa and beyond.
