Despite a hard-fought comeback in the second half, AmaZulu were unfortunately defeated 2-1 by Stellenbosch in the Carling Black Label Cup at the Zwelithini Stadium on Friday evening.

Usuthu took a bit of time to warm up in the match, as the team conceded early in the 24th minute when Devin Titus found the back of the net for Stellies.

The first half was heavily dominated by the opposition, but after the half time break, AmaZulu found the equaliser through Tshepang Moremi who beat the last defender and finished from close range in the 53rd minute.

The two sides went head-to-head for the victory in the dying stages of the half, but a stellar performance from Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori who was making his first appearance for the club kept Stellies out of his goal.

Ofori was eventually beaten after much effort in the first half of extra-time, when Andre De Jong took advantage in the 97th minute to give the visitors the lead once again.

Usuthu fought hard in the final minutes of the game to perhaps try and force a penalty shootout, but it would not be enough as they fell short and Stellies won the match in Durban.
