Sekhukhune United and AmaZulu recorded a 0-0 draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in the DStv Premiership on Saturday evening.

As the two sides got proceedings underway, it was AmaZulu who edged Sekhukhune in the feeling out process. After five minutes on the clock, Babina Noko struggled to get the ball into the final third.

Sekhukhune got into a passing rhythm soon thereafter but had difficulty progressing the ball up the field. With 10 minutes played, there was very little to separate the two teams while they continued to exchange jabs in the middle of the park.

The home team increased the pressure towards the 15 minute mark and managed to win consecutive corner kicks in the process. Despite the goal scoring opportunities, Sekhukhune failed to convert their chances.

After 20 minutes on the clock, Usuthu attempted to make way in the Sekhukhune half, however, the hosts remained solid in defence.

The game team reached a tacky period toward the half hour mark as neither side created any noteworthy goal scoring opportunities. However, the possession count appeared to have swung in AmaZulu’s favour as they stroked the ball around with ease.

With little action being produced at both ends, Sekhukhune and AmaZulu headed into the break deadlocked at 0-0.

AmaZulu restarted the match as the aggressors and immediately asserted themselves on the ball possession count. While AmaZulu penned Sekhukhune backed, the home team fought back in creating a few goal scoring opportunities of their own.

After an hour of football played, both Babina Noko and Usuthu battled to regain the ball in the middle of the park, while producing minimal goal mouth action. In one of the most notable moments of the match, Brooks received his marching orders in the 63rd minute following a dangerous tackle in his own half.

Despite being down to 10 men, AmaZulu kept Sekhukhune under the cosh and held most of the ball around the 80 minute mark.

After a frustrating evening for Sekhukhune and AmaZulu, the scoreline was shared in a 0-0 draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
