The AmaZulu Community Trust, in partnership with the Hollywood Foundation, recently concluded its Back-to-School campaign at Banqobile High School in Camperdown—the former school of the late Usuthu goal-scoring legend, Bonginkosi Ntuli.
Leading the initiative was AmaZulu FC CEO Sinenjabulo Zungu-Ntuli, who, along with her team, oversaw the donation of school shoes and uniforms. Premier Foods also contributed by providing football and netball kits to the school.
First-team players Nkosikhona Radebe, Andiswa Sithole, and Andile Mbanjwa—who all started their football journeys at the grassroots level—engaged with the students, signing autographs and sharing words of encouragement.
Reflecting on the visit, Sithole expressed the importance of such initiatives:
“As kids, we would have cherished moments like these—seeing people you look up to taking the time to visit and remind you that anything is possible in life.”
AmaZulu’s commitment to uplifting communities has been evident throughout the campaign. In January, the club renewed its partnership with the Hollywood Foundation, kicking off the initiative at Maqiyane Primary School in Ulundi, the alma mater of long-serving defender Thembela Sikhakhane.
Last week, the campaign extended to Limpopo, where club captain Veli Mothwa, a native of Zebediela, joined head coach Arthur Zwane, players, and club staff in visiting Madika Primary School and Piet N Aphane High School. During their visit, they donated school uniforms and scientific calculators, bringing smiles to the faces of many underprivileged students.
