AmaZulu Community Trust leading sports betting operator Hollywoodbets and their partners LaLiga joined forces in the formation of the Hollywoodbets Siyakhula U15 Cup, aimed to give budding footballers a platform to flourish.
The sentiments were shared by all three brands at the press launch which was held at the Hollywoodbets headquarters in Umhlanga, Durban.
According to the AmaZulu Community Trust Programs Manager, Mpho Dintwa, the move is a resounding shout that youth football development remains a top priority in social cohesion.
“We applaud Hollywoodbets and LaLiga for recognising the need to invest in youth football. The tournament will provide more than a scouting platform for participants, in addition to that, hopefully, faith will be ignited for more success to come, across many disciplines so that they can better their lives,” said Dintwa.
The tournament will see 16 teams under the Ethekwini SAFA region battling it out over two days in a round-robin format. The clubs and players will have the opportunity to win prizes, with the two finalists winning a Hollywoodbets sponsored match kit and the winning club walking away with R10 000 worth of training equipment to compliment their trophy. The player of the tournament will be rewarded with the opportunity to travel to Gauteng and participate in a LaLiga training clinic taking place between 12 – 18 July 2021.
Hollywoodbets Soccer Brand Manager, Wayde Dorkin, is proud to be a part of this exciting tournament as sports development is an intergral focus for the brand, “We are excited to have partnered with the AmaZulu Community Trust to create a platform for these junior clubs to have a chance to compete at this regional level and for these youngsters to showcase their talent.
The AmaZulu Community Trust has been incredible in their approach taken to running this tournament with us and the fact that we share many of the same values and vision to develop and harness the skills and talent that these youngsters possess, makes it an easy decision to be a part of this impactful project.”
Individual stand-out performing players stand in line to receive a scholarship with one of AmaZulu Community Trust partners which has launched several professional careers including Sphesihle Maduna (AmaZulu FC), Sbusiso Magaqa (Royal AM) etc.
The tournament will also see coaches from participating clubs receiving basic life skills training for them to implement at their respective clubs and communities.
