AmaZulu FC will chase a victory at Dobsonville Stadium on the late afternoon of Tuesday 3 May when they face hosts Swallows FC in a DStv Premiership clash.
Kick-off is at 5pm CAT.
AmaZulu head into the match on the back of a 0-0 draw away to local rivals Royal AM on April 24 – a 15th draw of the 2021-22 league season, which left them in seventh place on the log.
The stalemate against Royal robbed Usuthu of a third straight win in the league, having beaten Baroka FC and Maritzburg United (both 1-0) on April 6 and 16 respectively.
The Durban side has claimed 15 points from 13 away matches this season. Their last three results on the road have been a loss (0-2 against SuperSport United), a win (1-0 against Baroka FC) and a draw (0-0 against Royal).
Swallows, meanwhile, broke a four-game winless streak in the league with a clutch 3-2 home triumph over fellow strugglers Baroka FC on April 24, with goals from Mwape Musonda (two) and Musa Nyatama. The result lifted them out of the relegation zone, though they are only ahead of 15th-placed TS Galaxy on goal difference.
The Birds have claimed 11 points from 13 home matches this season. Their defeat of Baroka was just a second win as hosts in 2021-22.
In head-to-head stats, AmaZulu and Swallows have met in 55 top-flight league matches since 1985. The Birds have 20 wins compared to 15 for Usuthu, while 20 matches have been drawn. The Soweto side has won 11 of their 27 home matches in the rivalry, suffering five defeats in the process.
When the teams met earlier this season, at Kings Park Stadium in August 2021, they played to a goalless stalemate. The last three league meetings of the Birds and Usuthu have produced just one goal.
